JellyC: A Contributor to Community and Ocean Conservation

In today’s business landscape, the role of businesses extends beyond profit-making to include a responsibility towards society and the environment. This principle is encapsulated in the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which describes the behaviours adopted by companies to positively influence their social and environmental surroundings. By voluntarily committing to CSR policies, companies support and engage in initiatives that benefit their communities and ecosystems, acknowledging their responsibility not only toward stakeholders but also toward society at large.

In the last few years, CSR has become increasingly important as consumers recognise how businesses can have a big impact on the environment and social issues. Research by the Victoria University Graduate School of Management, reveals that 81 per cent of Australian consumers believe that demonstrating a commitment to sustainability adds value to a brand and many will only do business with a company that supports CSR initiatives.

At JellyC, we are proud to embody this ethos. As a consistent contributor to our communities, we have integrated CSR into the very fabric of our business model. Our commitment is evident in the initiatives we support and the efforts we dedicate to creating positive impact.

The Meaning Behind the Name: JellyC

Our name, JellyC, holds significant meaning that reflects our core values and mission, reflecting a dual commitment to profit and purpose.

The "C" stands for capital, representing the profit-driven aspect of our operations. It is essential for us to generate profit and revenue; this ensures that all our stakeholders—including shareholders, employees, investors, and service providers—are satisfied and supported.

The "Jelly" in JellyC represents our purpose: a commitment to the health of our oceans. We draw inspiration from the jellyfish, an ocean dweller known for its ability to regenerate its cells. This regenerative quality not only symbolises resilience but also aligns with our long-term perspective of sustainability. Just as jellyfish thrive in their environments, we aim to ensure the longevity of our business whilst making meaningful contributions to our local communities.

The Port to Pub Swim: A Celebration of Community and the Ocean

Sponsoring the Port to Pub swim is one way we celebrate our connection with the ocean.

The Port to Pub Swim is an annual event that highlights the endurance and skill of swimmers, from elite competitors to casual participants. Established to create a premier long-distance swimming experience in Western Australia, the event has become a key fixture on the swimming calendar.

Held in March every year, options for participation include individual swims, duo teams, and groups of four, fostering camaraderie among competitors. The event unites families and supporters in a festive atmosphere and showcases local businesses that come together to support the event. The swim features two open water swim races over two distances - a 19.7 km direct crossing and a 25 km ultramarathon - from Leighton Beach crossing the Rottnest Channel and finishing at Rottnest Island.

Rottnest Island is renowned for its breathtaking underwater gardens, which boast approximately 400 species of fish and 20 species of coral, forming biodiverse marine sanctuaries accessible to snorkelers, divers, and swimmers. Efforts to preserve the island's delicate natural environment, include the establishment of five Marine Sanctuary Zones and sustainable energy initiatives designed to protect its natural beauty.

The Port to Pub swim is an event and a celebration of community and the vibrant ocean that connects us all. Participants often encounter the occasional jelly sting during their journey across the channel, a whimsical reminder of the marine life that thrives in this beautiful part of the world. The connection between JellyC and the Port to Pub swim symbolises our mission: to generate profit while contributing to a higher purpose—preserving our oceans and reinforcing community ties.

JellyC is proud to sponsor the 2025 Port to Pub Swim. The next Port to Pub with Hotel Rottnest takes place on 15th March 2025. Join us!
